The Kona Coffee Living History Farm’s Farm Fest Open House: “From Farm to Table”

Saturday, September 30, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., Captain Cook, FREE

Kona Historical Society’s Kona Coffee Living History Farm will be hosting their annual Farm Fest Open House again on their site in Captain Cook. At this year’s celebration, honoring Kona’s heritage, the theme is “From Farm to Table” and promises a day filled with family-fun activities that revolve around all the amazing sustainable foods that are made here in Kona, whether it’s baked items, cooking demonstrations with celebrity chef Sam Choy or a traditional Chicken Hekka plate lunch. There will also be local music; “Hands on History” activities where you can practice the art of lauhala weaving, Japanese calligraphy, gardening and pan roasting coffee, among others; Kona coffee tastings; an historical photo exhibit and tours of the historic 1920’s coffee mill and farmhouse.  To make parking easier, catch the shuttle (9:30a.m.-3p.m) from Kealakekua Ranch Center that day. Come join the fun and don’t miss out on the cultural celebration that surrounds 18 years as the only living history coffee farm in the nation!
