Click image for larger rendering. The tour leaves from Keauhou pier, travels north to Kahalu'u Bay, then heads south to Honaunau.

Each year the Kona Historical Society partners with Fair Wind Cruises to present fundraising historical tours along the Kona coastline. Passengers are treated to a Sunday afternoon sail aboard the catamaran FairWind II between Kahalu`u Bay and Honaunau. Kama`aina resident John Mitchell provides the historical narrative prepared by Kona historian Jean Greenwell; among the points of interest that are covered are the holua slide at Keauhou, Kuano`o battlefield, Kealakekua Bay and the Captain Cook monument, the battle of Mokuohai at Ke`ei, and Pu`uhonua o Honaunau. The sightings of whales and dolphins are often an added treat.

The cost for current members is $45 and $55 for non-members. Pupus are served and a no-host bar is available. The tours depart from Keauhou Bay at 2:00 PM and return to Keauhou at 5:00 PM. Please call the Kona Historical Society or check the calendar on this website for tour dates.
