Jeep Tours

Several times each year the Kona Historical
Society organizes fundraising jeep trips to remote parts
of the island that are normally not accessible to the public.
Some of the previous trips have gone to Kealapu'ali, an old
sheep station on Palani Ranch; Mana Road, an old wagon road
that winds its way between Waimea and the Saddle area; and
Wai`ahukini, a former fishing village in the Ka`u district
which shows evidence of habitation from the earliest period
of settlement of Hawai`i to modern times.
Historical points of interest along the way
and a talk on the history of the destination area are highlights
of the Saturday tours, as well as the beautiful scenery, short
hikes, lunch, and an open bar. You must be a KHS member to
participate and have a 4 wheel drive vehicle with good clearance.
Please call the Society or check the calendar
on this website for tour dates.
